DPM S Jayakumar has openly said that the Tamil language is relevant in modern society. He said in a closing ceremony of the Tamil Language Month, that the government is steadfast in its support for the language. There are a lot of stories of selflessness, but hardly do we see one where a member of one race, selflessly gives up something for a member of another. Ngee Ann Secondary, is a Teochew based school, and it has very strong Chinese heritage. Thus, it’s chinafication is actually rather strong.
So instances like this, is heartwarming, and positive. My hope is that there’ll be more stories like Chin Won and Hafiz. Things like these, make Singapore a great place to live. If only they happen more often.
